In the dark, staring at the ceiling I listen to the radio. I try to stay awake, put on another record before it’s time to go. I climbed out my window, met a girlfriend down the street. We tried to find the answer while the world was still asleep, in the dead of night. As we smoked cigarettes on the roof we had so much to say. It’s funny how nothing meant as much the next day. After three, we hid from the cars in the bushes by the park. It’s getting late, I’ve got to go home and get inside while it’s still dark. We grow older, the sense of adventure fades. Dawn draws closer and dims the plans we made, in the dead of night.

Power pop is a pretty formulaic genre -- a glorious formula, but still, predictable enough that lots and lots of bands can pull off a "perfect" blend of melody, harmony, jangle and crunch a time or two in the course of their careers. But I can't name another record that hits the magic spot EVERY SINGLE TRACK. This is so f$%#ing good. Craig O'Neill
