Authenticity 04:33
You sing the same old song you’ve sung penned by some other composer Of which you’ve mastered every word with the skill of a poser You tell me one thing when you mean another Words fall from both sides of your mouth Until I can’t tell one from the other Don’t show me who you pretend to be Just give me some authenticity You’re hiding another face in case you need to replace it With a memorizing look that’s begging me to embrace it If there’s some truth behind your eyes you’re blowing smoke to conceal it You’ve got a factuality but you don't know how to reveal it It’s the real you I am trying to see Just give me some authenticity Is this real or is it fake? Don’t show me who you pretend to be Just give me some authenticity It’s the real you I am trying to see Just give me some authenticity Authenticity, won't you give it to me?

The force of destiny’s eventuality was something we could not escape The consequences of our decisions made ripples like a stone thrown in the lake. Too little too late. Then everything we ever wanted was crushed by fate. That was the time. That was the time. From which we measure before and after. That was the time when everything went faster. None of this circumstance was merely happenstance. It was littered along the road was chose to take. There was no mistake. Then everything we ever wanted, was bound to break. That was the time. That was the time. From which we measure before and after. That was the time we slid into disaster. When everything we ever wanted, felt like a mistake Then everything we ever wanted, was bound to break When everything we ever wanted, arrived too late. Then everything we ever wanted, was crushed by fate That was the time. That was the time. From which we measure before and after. That was the time we slid into disaster. That was the time. That was the time. From which we measure before and after. That was the time when everything went faster. Hang Up 03:01
Don't call me. I'm afraid to hear what you call me. So don't call me. Just hang up. I know I've got so many hang ups. Just hang up on me. Don't keep in touch. It just keeps me longing for your touch. Don't keep in touch. Just hang up. I know I've got so many hang ups. Just hang up on me. I want you here, but I don't really want to hear Your voice on the line. It just leaves me reading between the lines And longing for your touch. Don't keep in touch. Just hang up. I know I've got so many hang ups. Just hang up on me. Don't call me. I'm afraid to hear what you call me. So don't call me. I want you here, but I don't really want to hear Your voice on the line. It just leaves me reading between the lines.

Welcome to this imperfect world that we've made You're inheriting an earth that's worn and frayed But your generation will pull through At least I hope, we're counting on you We've chosen leaders who let us all down. They stole our faith and ran it into the ground. But your generation will find truth. At least I hope that you'll try to. I'm talking about your generation. Who will bail us out? Your generation. Who will take the fall? Your generation. You will save us all. Your mothers learned to repeat the same old mistakes. While your fathers jumped a train without any brakes. But your generation will come through. I'm sure you'll figure out what to do. I'm talking about your generation. Who will bail us out? Your generation. Who will take the fall? Your generation. You will save us all.

Fall Away 03:53
If you find there's just too much to do. Let me know. I'll help you pick and choose. Sometimes these things are just out of your hands. And you've just got to leave it chance and see where it lands. But everything you want is everything you need and it's all gotta be right now. Sometimes you've gotta let it fall. Fall where it may. Sometimes you've gotta let it fall away. When it seems the shortest step is so tall. What seems so important, tomorrow means nothing at all. Some days new ground feels just too hard to break. But sometimes there's a risk that you've just got to take. But everything you want is everything you need and it's all gotta be right now. Sometimes you've gotta let it fall. Fall where it may. Sometimes you've gotta let it fall away.

I’ve got a nagging feeling in my bones. That any word you say you didn’t make up on your own. An awkward conversation gave me a premonition that I just can’t shake. You fooled me once, or maybe even twice but there’s some things you just can’t fake. Because I know you better than you think that I do. I might be naïve, but this is make believe. I’ve got a nagging feeling down to my toes, that you’re role-playing a character you chose. My intuition led me to a suspicion that I just can’t shake. You fooled me one or maybe even twice but there’s some things you just can’t fake. Because I know you better than you think that I do. I might be naïve, but this is make believe. I’ve got a nagging feeling in my brain that your fantasies and realities are the same. Your cool expression gave me a false impression that I just can’t shake. You fooled me one or maybe even twice but there’s some things you just can’t fake. Because I know you better than you think that I do. I might be naïve, but this is make believe. I’ve got a nagging feeling.

Doctor, what is your prescription for this life that I’ve had? Do I need a consultation for a note from your pad? So I can meet someone at the pharmacy While endlessly waiting in that line Come and get something for what ails ya And whatever fails ta make you feel right Doctor, what’s your professional opinion about my burning heart? I’ve got antacids, and aspirin and aloe vera and refills in my cart. I’ll meet someone at the pharmacy While endlessly waiting in that line Come and get something for what ails ya And whatever fails ta make you feel right. There might be somebody just like me browsing through the aisles It can be so lonely seeking remedies and waiting in line Doctor, if the cure is romantic relations, there’s no prescription for that. Recommend some new medications so I can make my way back. I’ll meet someone in the pharmacy While endlessly waiting in that line Come and get something for what ails ya And whatever fails ta make you feel right There might be somebody just like me browsing through the aisles It can be so lonely seeking remedies and waiting in line. Doctor.

Please don't say you don't understand I think you know what I'm going to say Don't pretend you can't see my hand It's the same old game we always play It's really not a puzzle or any kind of mystery It's not hard to figure out what this means So why can't we make this easy? An uncomplicated thing. Please just tell me what you feel And I won't assume that we feel the same Cause I can't play by the rules When I'm unsure if they've changed It's really not a puzzle or any kind of mystery It's not hard to figure out what this means So why can't we make this easy? An uncomplicated thing. It's really not a puzzle or any kind of mystery It's not hard to figure out what this means So why can't we make this easy? An uncomplicated thing.

Innovate and re-create. Technology is here to save the day. Initiate a new state of doing the same things a better way. Though circuits may replace me, While there are veins beneath our skin We'll ensure the robots will not win. This automation has no emotion. So we will put our hearts in this machine. Redefine and redesign. Productivity must not be lost. Refine and realign no matter what the human cost. These machines will displace me, But while our blood flows from within, We'll ensure the robots will not win. Computers will outpace me, But while we share that bond among our kin, We'll ensure the robots will not win.

Laugh 03:23
When everything you feel seems to hurt And you lose sight of what it's all worth. Though you can't see it now I hope someday this all seems funny somehow. When every day casts a new curse And it seems things can only get worse. Though you can't see it now I hope someday this all seems funny somehow. I just had to laugh. Sometimes that's all we have. When you feel the sting of every word And everything you say goes unheard Though you can't see it now I hope someday this all seems funny somehow. I just had to laugh. Sometimes that's all we have.

I've been searching for the good in goodbye. Until I fill the space that you occupied Please, oh please Remember me (Please) and our history. (Please) remember me. (Please) don't leave me behind. Memories are crowding my mind. And keeping me from seeking new bonds that bind. So please, oh please Remember me (Please) and our history (Please) remember me (Please) don't leave me behind. Instrumental on verse I've been searching for the good in goodbye. Until we've found the reasons why, oh why. Please, oh please Remember me (Please) and our history. (Please) remember me. (Please) don't leave me behind.

I start every day wearing ill fitting clothes Follow my car where it goes where I pretend to be someone nobody knows But you can find me When we go hiding and seeking, running through the dark We’ll duck in the shadows not hiding who we are x2 By light of day I’ve got another face I wear to replace The one I show to you in a safer place Where you find me When we go hiding and seeking, running through the dark We’ll duck in the shadows not hiding who we are x1 But you can find me We’ll go hiding and seeking, running through the dark We’ll duck in the shadows not hiding who we are x2 Hiding and seeking

about

The new album from Blank Pages, Is This Real, drops on October 23, 2020!

The world is a heavy place right now and Blank Pages’ latest release is a record for these crazy times. Like its title implies, we’re often in a state of disbelief wondering what’s real and what’s fake. Blank Pages songwriter Greg Potter explores these questions through the lens of indie pop, balancing his signature melodic sound with weighty ideas.

For Potter, melody is always reality, and it is unmistakable on Is This Real. A history of pop melody flows through his music blending decades: 60’s classics, 70’s power pop, 80s new wave, and 90s modern rock. While Blank Pages’ catchy songs are built on this foundation of guitar-oriented pop, they offer a 21st century sensibility that often takes them to unexpected places.

With the lead single, Nagging Feeling, Potter explores that sixth sense of perceiving when someone you trust is telling lies. In Authenticity, he begs for a dose of reality in his relationships. Potter urges the world to humanize machines before they overrun our lives in Robots Will Not Win.

Sonically the band covers new territory with Hiding and Seeking, an ethereal exploration of who we become in the dark with those we trust. Potter gives a nod to 80s production with the Police-influenced Before and After. And Blank Pages mines straight-ahead power pop on tracks like Waiting in Line and Laugh.

Is This Real is Blank Pages’ sixth studio album featuring Greg Potter on guitar, keys, and lead vocals, Jason Brown on bass, Ed McCaffrey on drums and background vocals.

Is This Real expands Blank Pages’ musical palette, adding new colors and textures to their catalog. The band’s prior releases include Funny Pages, 45 & 33, On My Street, Absolute Uncertainty, Before Your Summer Fades, and the Into the Ether EP.
