You’ll never find perfection in anything you do. You look for imitations but you’re still only you. You’ve got to complain about nothing, because if you don’t stand for something, you’re gonna fall for anything. And I’ll tell you one thing: you should know better. Chorus. You only see the dark side, but when times change it’s time to hide. And when given choice, you never decide. And I’ll tell you why: you should know better. Chorus.

Funny Pages 03:03
Hello, Mr. Message Man. Has he got character or is he a cartoon. Do his words hang by his head in a little balloon? Yeah he’s got magic like all the ancient sages. He’s the headline on the funny pages. Hello Mr. Message Man. He schmoozes the crowd in the classic tradition. You see his true colors in the Sunday edition. Yeah he’s got taxes to raise all our wages. He’s the headline on the funny pages. He’s laughing and smiling, he’ll have you in stitches. He’s the headline on the funny pages.

Tired of Me 04:06
I feel better than I ever have, and it’s not good. There’s one little thing that I’ll never have, even if I could. And it’s not that I’m feeling desperate or sad. It’s somewhere in between good and bad. She doesn’t want me around. I think she’d rather be lonely. She likes to put me down. I think she’s tired of me. You know, I’m tired of me, too. Things come my way quicker than ever, but I still wait. One little moment is quicker than never, but it’s too late. And I don’t feel any great sense of relief. It’s somewhere between faith and disbelief. Chorus. I’ve got more options than I’ve ever had, but I’ve got no choice. I’ve got more lines than I’ve ever said, but I’ve got no voice. And it’s not that I’m feeling out of place. It’s something when we meet face to face. Chorus.

Spring Rain 04:44
The grass was green, our love was in bloom. We knew that vacation was coming soon. When the school doors open, we pour into the afternoon. But when summertime came it pulled us apart again. Was it only a game when we kissed in the spring rain? My heart raced as we opened up our books, when the teacher turned her back and you gave me those looks. I remember, after school, the walks we took. Chorus. You say love is blind but there’s one thing I know: when the sun gets warm, then I’ll have to watch you go.
5.
You’ve got a smile that makes me feel so bright. You’ve got a way to make the worst feel alright. But I know when you walk out that door, yeah I know, you say you feel so unsure. Yeah, I know girl you don’t have to beat yourself up. It only brings you down. You’re something special, that makes me beautiful. A feeling in song like “Wonderful.” But I know when everybody’s gone home, yeah I know, you say you feel so alone. Yeah, I know girl you don’t have to beat yourself up. It only brings you down. You make my senses clearer. And when you look in the mirror you shouldn’t feel blue. Because everyone can’t help but to love you. Chorus.
6.
For You 02:44
Everyone is so willing to talk every little thing I can give. And no one but myself will stick around as long as I live. Is this all you want from me? Well, it’s too bad that I let you down. This is all you’ll get from me because there just ain’t enough to go around. And you love, you took it all for free. But you cared too much about every other thing but me. Everyone will stand in line to collect all they can get. And no one but myself will be around to pay the debt. Chorus.
7.
In the dark, staring at the ceiling I listen to the radio. I try to stay awake, put on another record before it’s time to go. I climbed out my window, met a girlfriend down the street. We tried to find the answer while the world was still asleep, in the dead of night. As we smoked cigarettes on the roof we had so much to say. It’s funny how nothing meant as much the next day. After three, we hid from the cars in the bushes by the park. It’s getting late, I’ve got to go home and get inside while it’s still dark. We grow older, the sense of adventure fades. Dawn draws closer and dims the plans we made, in the dead of night.
8.
I know you think she’s the one, but she’s only in it for fun. That girl’s on fire, she’s brighter than the sun. Don’t you know you’re gonna burn out? You should see in her light, the she radiates every night. You’ll feel warm in her glow, until the time she has to go. She’ll do it every time, when she starts to shine, she’ll leave you behind. Chorus. You think you’ve got it made, but you’re always in the shade. She’ll radiate and keep you warm, then blow away like a storm. Chorus.
9.
My girl don’t kiss me like she used to do, and I’m thinking that we’re through. My girl don’t act like she wants me hanging around. Is there some new guy she’s found? Because she used to run right home and call me on the phone. But now I sit alone most every night. I should have known right from the start that she would break my heart. And the hardest part is the pain when she does it again. She isn’t happy like she used to be and I’m thinking that it’s me. She doesn’t like it when I try to hold her hand and I just don’t understand. Chorus.
10.
In My Head 03:56
I’ll take a challenge if it isn’t hard. Find a promised land in my back yard. Watch the world from my window and scoff at anything that I don’t know. That’s me. If I had known I’d have to try I would have given up instead. Because I can’t find a place to call home until I feel at home in my head. This head I’ve got can’t hold enough. This head I’ve got knows too much. I’ll look for things I can already see. I’ll become what I’m told to be. I’ll listen for sounds that I’ve already heard. I’ll say my lines when I know the words. That’s me. If I had known I’d have to change I would never have left my bed. Chorus. No I never pondered one damn thing before any word I’ve said. Because if I had to take the time to think, well I’d rather be dead. Chorus.
11.
Enough 03:45
I know I’m not the best of what you’ve found, but all the competition gets me down. I don’t know who is more unsatisfied. You’ve got no idea how hard I’ve tried. Yeah I’ve tried, but I can never do enough for you and for me, too. I never thought that you would lead me on. Until I get too close and then you’re gone. After all the time I spent I thought you’d cave. You’ve got no idea how much I gave. Yeah I gave, but I can never do enough for you and for me, too. I try and I try, but I end up nowhere. She told me, “No one said love was fair.” No, love ain’t fair. Chorus.

about

The debut album from South Jersey's power pop heroes Blank Pages features 11 tracks chock full of chiming guitars and tasty hooks. Inspired by the sounds of The Knack, The Raspberries and The Beatles, Blank Pages crafts catchy songs that get into your head and won't come out!

Blank Pages proudly recorded the Funny Pages CD under the influence of Jason Falkner, the Raspberries, the Knack and Superdrag. Greg Potter, guitarist and songwriter from Blank Pages, goes so far to say that, "during the recording and mixing process of Funny Pages, I was trying to emulate the sound of the pop classic Get the Knack. It's not as heavy as most power-pop, with cleaner guitar tones and lots of energy from a great drummer." The band recorded using vintage gear to capture the chiming guitars and tasty hooks most often associated with great 70s pop.
